As a model, I’m used to being in front of the camera, but my shoot with Martijn Jan from Alluxx Photo was truly something special. I had heard great things about him before, but it wasn’t until I stood in front of his lens myself that I understood why so many people are so enthusiastic about his work.
Martijn Jan genuinely takes his time
What stood out to me right away was how calm and thoughtful Martijn Jan works. Nothing is rushed. He watches, listens, and feels out what *you* need to feel confident and comfortable. It makes such a big difference when a photographer focuses not only on the final result but also on the person in front of the camera.
From the first minute, I felt completely at ease. No pressure, just the two of us building a set step by step that felt right for me. That gave me the confidence to show myself exactly as I am.
Creating together instead of just posing
What I really loved was that it became a true collaboration. Martijn Jan shares his ideas, but he also invites yours. If I wanted to try something, we tried it. If he saw a pose that worked better, he explained it clearly and calmly. I never felt like “just a model who has to follow instructions,” but like someone who was co-creating something unique with him.
Photos that truly capture who I am
We shot several different sets: dressed, half-dressed, and even a fun Christmas-themed series. Sensual, playful, stylish, exactly what I hoped for. And I’ll just say it how I feel it: the photos turned out sexy, bold, and absolutely amazing, but always with a sense of class.
What I love about his style is that he doesn’t just capture your body. He captures a mood, a feeling, something personal. You recognize yourself in the pictures, but in a way that makes you think: wow, that’s me too.
A shoot that felt like a great day out
But maybe most importantly: I genuinely had such a good time. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and full of laughs. Nothing awkward, nothing forced. I walked away not just with great photos, but with a really warm and memorable experience.
